Clients for mobile device management

Much has written about managing computers and locking down access and sharing with Azure Information Protection, Intune and Azure Active directory. This is not the answer to what the users of Office 365 would benefit from the most. More and more of our work is being done by the use of mobile clients, we are many that already see that work is not a place it is what you do.

Microsoft has clients for the 2 major mobile operating systems Android and IOS as well as for Windows 10 Mobile, these can be downloaded and installed from their respective stores.

With the clients installed can the user of the mobile device access protected files stored in the cloud, the company can protect sensitive information such as Intellectual Property and Personal Identifiable Information (PII). The later is utterly important to be GDPR compliant.

The benefit for the company and the user is not only the protection of data, the management of the mobile device is an important step as many companies accept the use of BYOD. Unfortunately are many users misplacing , forgetting devices that contain company secrets. The device management makes it possible to wipe the information of a lost mobile device, or a private-owned device of an ex-employee. The wipe features are so clever so you can wipe the company data and not the private data such as photos and text messages.

You as a company and your users can benefit from the AIP, Intune and Azure Active Directory with the bundle named Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) subscription. This can be added to either Office 365 Business or Enterprise subscriptions or be included in the new Microsoft 365 bundle that was released at the Inspire conference in Washington DC earlier in July.
